COURSES

The Castle Course

Designed by David McLay Kidd, creator of Bandon Dunes in Oregon the Castle Course opened in 2008 as the seventh course at the Home of Golf. It offers spectacular views over St. Andrews Bay and the town itself. A par 71 course it ranges in yardage from 5300 to 6789 yards depending on which of the five tees you decide to play from. Often compared to Whistling Straits on the USA, the stunning views to Carnoustie and beyond combined with the incredible layout makes ‘the castle’ a mouthwatering golfing prospect.

Dumbarnie Links

Scotland’s newest golf course has been founded, developed and designed by renowned course architect, Clive Clark. Dumbarnie initially appears to be a classic links however, the vast area of land has enabled a links layout to be combined with duel elevation to create a unique golfing test. The views are simply stunning with the Firth of Forth being the backup to 14 of the 18 holes.

Panmure

This historic golf club is one of the oldest in the world, with a rich history dating back to 1845. As one of the 24 original clubs that helped purchase the Amateur Championship trophy in 1885, Panmure Golf Club takes pride in its contribution to the sport.

Panmure has been influenced by two legends of the game - Old Tom Morris and James Braid - and offers both strategy and skill for golfers at all levels. The combination of links and heathland elements creates a unique challenge with tight fairways, challenging carries, undulating greens, and sandhills that were forged by nature. The course is also visually appealing, with touches of heather adding texture and moderately undulating hillocks adding strategic influence. With such a rich history and stunning course, we welcome all to come and experience the beauty and charm of our Scottish golf club.

The Old Course (Ballot) / The New Course

The famous “Swilken Bridge” remains golf’s most memorable and unique image, one guaranteed to set the pulse of any golf purist racing the game’s greatest players all having made the same walk. The old Course is where the game was first played as long ago as 1450. Famous features include the Swilken Burn which runs in front of the 18th fairway as well as the 1st green, also the Road Hole Bunker – a pot bunker on the left side of the 17th green, the source of many an Open Championship loss and the difference between defeat and lifting the Claret Jug.

Only 125 years old so considered “new”, but a tough compliment to adjacent The Old Course. Designed by Old Tom Morris and opened in 1895, this is a classic links course and a first-class golfing challenge. With the traditional out and back layout, the New is characterized by well-designed greenside and fairway bunkers, and tough homeward holes. Although overshadowed by its illustrious neighbor, the New Course is a must play for any golfer visiting the town of St Andrews.
